"People Can Change Over a Game"

In the heat of the game, your tied with 5 minutes left, each team is pretty much even and no one can score. Then, one player steps up and scores the winning point. Just after that goal a player from the opposing team walks up to the kid that just scored and gets violent and hostile with him just for excelling. The other player trips your teammate and, the benches clear and the game ends just like that, awkward and upsetting with the problem being bad sportsmanship. “I believe that competition brings out the worst in people. “

I remember I was playing soccer one night and the game just started. We were totally destroying this team, it was like 3-0 within the first five minutes of the game. Then the other team’s defender called my teammate, John “tubby” and, his brother Mike went crazy. Then, a fight started, and we just walked away because these kids were stupid and it wasn't worth it. I didn’t get why he had to say something so stupid when he could have stepped up and played the game instead of fighting.

When I was playing baseball, my team was up by a run and I was up with runners on first and second. Now I will admit, it I can’t hit! But the count was 3-2 and instead of the pitcher striking me out so they could hit, he just kicked back and threw the ball as hard as he could at me. Now up came Mike who was on fire that day and with two outs he hit the ball into the left field corner and 2 runs scored and we won the game! So now what was the point of the pitcher hitting me all he did was hurt his team

Competition not only brings out the worst in young kids it also brings out the worst in some of the games biggest players. In the AFC Divisional playoff football game between the N.Y. Jets and the San Diego Chargers in the fourth quarter, the Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson kick the challenge flag after the Jets coach Rex Ryan challenged a catch that Jackson made down the sideline. He kicked it because they were losing and didn’t want the call to be over turned. So instead of him just playing the game and trying to win he made an loser out of himself.

“I believe that competition brings out the worst in people." Who cares if your team loses and you did horrible, keep your head high the only thing that matters is if you had fun. So if your opponent is playing dirty don't go that way, just play your game and be the bigger person. Sports do bring out the best and worst in people.

This I believe!!
